Let's go to Japan?
Share
As winter days continued to bring cold to the Netherlands my dear partner decided to migrate to South Africa for a couple of weeks, a great way to enjoy the good weather and the time zone, it is only a one hour difference, and for digital nomads that work in the netherlands, SA is perfect.
While away she came to me with a simple question.
If there where repairs to be done in Japan would you consider coming with me?
Funny thing is that we have always spoken about Japan and the Japanese culture, how it fascinate us, not talking about the culinary, dreams of neon lights and fresh sushi was often a part of our conversations, she had study there graduating, and was planing a trip for her birthday, a special birthday, a beautiful moment to celebrate her life. Japan is important as a whole in her life, from the landscapes, to the never to be found universe that is Japan, when she speaks of Japan, every detail is filled with an almost touching sensation.
For me it was always a land of mystery, of Musashi, of sushi and amazing tattoo artists, a land of synthesizers and drum machines, giant robots and video games, but a very very distant land, the kind of place I would visit once the rat race was finally won, but here it was manifesting it self in such a way that I couldn't help but to imagine, Japan...
On that same night she posted a thread on reddit and guess what?
There where people in need of repairs in Japan, what a moment! We where so thrilled just by the thought of it, of going together to this amazing country, on the other side of the World together, fixing VanMoof bikes? Come on that's crazy! At least for us it seems, as hours passed more ideas came to mind, I still had to follow my routine of repairs but my mind was there in Japan, while the day went its way, my partner Nada, started to organize the whole trip, figuring out budget, in just a couple of hours, she had all figured out, Tokyo, Okinawa, Osaka, Mount Fuji, Bullet Trains and an infinity of things for us to check out in the land of the rising Sun.
The community of riders started sending us messages and before we knew it, we Where at 20 per cent of our Goal to go to Japan, so together with my Partner i also decided to give a Work shop There, to bring knowledge and strength to the Japanese community of riders
In Just a week our Dream was getting closer to reality and we where at 85% of our goal and Today, we have just bought our Tickets To Japan!
I cant even imagine what it will be like, what a Crazy Experience, I would have never imagined that one day that Quality Control Guy, would Go to Japan to fix Bikes and teach people how to do so.
What a time to be alive!
